Supply Lens

What does "A product with Id '00000000' or code 'ABC' does not exist" mean?

Fix: product does not exist

Resolve the most common Document error, an unrecognised product code, then reprocess the Documents it stopped.

About 3 min

When Supply Lens can't match a product code on an incoming Document against your ERP or inventory system's item master, it holds the Document and logs this error:

A product with Id '00000000' or code 'ABC' does not exist.

The code in quotes is the one it couldn't match. Here's how to fix it.

Before you start

  • Access to your ERP or inventory system's item master, or someone who can add products to it.

Steps

  1. Open the failed Document from its list, for example Sales → Orders.
  2. Open the Logs and note the code in the error. On the Document, that line has no green tick.
  3. Look for the code in your item master.
    • It doesn't exist: add it, with the format exactly as the source system sends it.
    • It exists in a different format (for example the source sends WIDGET-001 and your system holds Widget001): correct the code in the source system, or ask the Support Team to add a cross-reference in Supply Lens that translates one to the other.
  4. Reprocess the Document.

Many Documents, one fix

If the same code stopped lots of Documents, fix it once, then filter the list to the Failed Documents, tick them and reprocess them together.

Matching is exact, so look out for differences in letter case, leading zeros (1234 and 01234) and separators (RIDGE_ESP and RIDGE-ESP).

Check it worked

The Document's status changes to Complete and the line shows a green tick.

If something goes wrong

  • It fails again with the same code. Check the new product has saved in your item master, and that the code matches character for character.
  • This keeps happening. Prevent it by checking your codes line up across systems before go-live and when you launch products. See Align your SKUs.
