How do I reprocess a failed document?

Reprocess a Document

Run a Document through processing again once you've fixed what made it fail, one at a time or in bulk.

About 3 min

Reprocessing is the standard fix for a Failed Document once you've dealt with the cause. It's safe to repeat: Supply Lens won't send target data that has already been sent.

Before you start

  • Find out why it failed and fix that first. Open the Document's Logs (see Download Document logs). For example, if a product didn't exist, add it to your ERP or inventory system. Reprocessing without a fix will just fail again.

Steps

One Document

  1. Open the failed Document from its list, for example Sales → Orders.
  2. Choose Reprocess. On a list you can also tick the row and press Alt+P.
  3. Press Enter in the confirmation box to go ahead.

Many Documents with the same problem

  1. Fix the cause once, for example the missing SKU in your item master.
  2. Filter the list to the affected Documents, for example Failed Documents from today.
  3. Check the count is what you expect, then tick the rows. Ticks stay when you change page.
  4. Choose Reprocess and confirm.

Tip

You can reprocess source data in the same way, from the source data screen or list.

Check it worked

The status changes to Complete, and the links menu shows target data for the system you expected.

If something goes wrong

  • It fails again. Open the Logs again: the message may have changed, or the fix may not have saved in the other system yet.
  • It completes but nothing new is sent. Target data with the same reference already exists, so the duplicate fail-safe stopped a second copy. If you really mean to send it again, see Resend a Document.
