How do I cancel a document or target data?
Cancel a Document
Take a Document, source data or target data out of use, and understand what Cancelled means in each case.
About 3 min
Cancelling sets a record's status to Cancelled. What that means depends on where you do it.
| Cancel on... | What it means |
|---|---|
| Source data or a Document | Informational. The record is no longer in use and can be ignored. |
| Target data | Important. It frees the way for the Document to be sent again to that Integration. |
Before you start
- Decide what you actually want. To take a record out of use, cancel it. To send something again, see Resend a Document, which cancels and reprocesses in one step.
- If a record has been dealt with some other way, Complete may be a better fit than Cancel.
Steps
- Open the list: a Document list such as Sales → Orders, or the source data or target data list.
- Filter it to the records you want, and tick them. Check the count.
- Choose Cancel and confirm.
You can also cancel source data from the source data screen.
Check it worked
The records now show the status Cancelled.
If something goes wrong
- You cancelled target data by mistake. If the Document still needs sending, reprocess it. See Reprocess a Document.
- You see
Cancelledtarget data you didn't cancel. That's usually the duplicate fail-safe: matching target data already existed, so a second copy wasn't sent.
