Supply Lens

Find the screens

Lesson 2 of 25 4 min read

Open the integration type setup screens and an organisation's maps and profiles, and know what each menu item is for.

Before you learn the ideas, learn where things are. In this lesson you will open both groups of screens and see what each item holds, so the rest of the course has somewhere to land.

Integration type setup

These screens hold the parts of an integration type that every organisation shares.

  1. In the menu on the left, open Administration → Maps & Profiles.
  2. Four items show: Shared, Client Profiles, Connect Profiles and Settings Schemas.
Administration → Maps & Profiles: setup that applies to all organisations.
SharedThe shared bases that come with each Supply Lens release. Read-only.
Client ProfilesNamed connections to other platforms: base address, rate limit, retry rules and type of sign-in.
Connect ProfilesHow organisations connect an integration of a type. One for each integration type.
Settings SchemasThe settings form that an organisation fills in for an integration of the type.

You will work through each of these in the module Set up an integration type.

Maps and profiles of one organisation

These screens hold the maps and profiles that one organisation uses.

  1. Open the organisation.
  2. In the menu on the left, open Settings → Maps & Profiles.
Settings → Maps & Profiles: maps and profiles for this organisation only.

This opens the Maps & Profiles overview, with one card for each kind of map or profile. You will tour it in the module Work with maps and profiles.

Where would you go?

Your colleague asks you to do three things for the Acme API integration type:

  1. Change the rate limit Supply Lens uses when it calls Acme. That is a client profile, under Administration → Maps & Profiles → Client Profiles. It affects every organisation.
  2. Add a new field to the settings form organisations see. That is a settings schema, under Administration → Maps & Profiles → Settings Schemas.
  3. Change how Hilltop Coffee's warehouse orders are shaped for Acme. That is a create map for one organisation, so open Hilltop Coffee, then Settings → Maps & Profiles.

Tip

If you cannot see Maps & Profiles in either menu, check your role first. The screens show only to users with the admin role.

Recap

  • Administration → Maps & Profiles holds Shared, Client Profiles, Connect Profiles and Settings Schemas.
  • An organisation's Settings → Maps & Profiles opens the overview of that organisation's maps and profiles.
  • Connections, connect screens and settings forms are type-wide; maps and profiles are per organisation.
  • No menu item at all usually means you do not have the admin role.
