The overview and the lists
Lesson 10 of 25 6 min read
Read an organisation's Maps & Profiles overview at a glance, then filter a list to find the map or profile you need.
When you open a customer's maps and profiles, you want to answer three questions fast: what is live, what is in progress, and is anything wrong? The overview answers all three. In this lesson you will read the overview, then use a list to find one map or profile.
The overview
Open the organisation, then Settings → Maps & Profiles.
The page has one card for each kind. Each card shows:
- how many maps or profiles are Live, and how many are Draft;
- how many are shared, and how many belong to this organisation;
- an Open button, which opens the list of that kind.
The buttons at the top:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| What actually runs | Shows which map or profile runs for a message. You will use it in a later lesson. |
| Check everything | Validates the body of each published map and profile again. It changes nothing. |
When to use Check everything
Check everything is safe to run at any time, because it writes nothing. It is a good first step after a Supply Lens release, or when you take over a customer from a colleague, to confirm that every published body still passes the checks.
The held warning
If an overlay in this organisation is Held, a warning shows on the overview. A held overlay was parked on an old version of its base because a newer version broke it. Treat the warning as a job to do: the customer is missing whatever the newer base changed. You will learn to fix it in the lesson on rebasing.
A list of maps or profiles
On the overview, select Open on a card. The list of that kind opens, for example Create maps.
Use the filters at the top to find a map or profile: Integration type, Document type and Status. Select Clear to remove the filters.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The name. |
| Integration | The integration type, and the document type below it. |
| Scope | The scope chip (Shared base, This organisation, One integration) and the origin chip (Shipped default, Locally owned). |
| Version | The version number and its status. |
| Updated | When the version was made, and who made it. |
| (actions) | Open, and Version history in the menu. |
An empty list means nothing at all
If the list is empty for an integration type and document type, nothing is set up for them, not even a shared base. Messages of that kind will find no map or profile.
A quick health check for Hilltop Coffee
You take over Hilltop Coffee from a colleague. On the overview you see:
- Create maps: 2 live, 1 draft; 1 shared, 2 this organisation.
- No held warning.
You select Check everything, which reports nothing new. You open Create maps, filter Status to draft, and find your colleague's unfinished v4 of the Acme warehouse order map. You note it in the ticket, because nothing in a draft is running.
Recap
- The overview has one card per kind, with live and draft counts, shared and own counts, and an Open button.
- Check everything revalidates every published body and changes nothing.
- A held overlay shows a warning on the overview; it needs fixing.
- Lists filter by integration type, document type and status, and show scope, origin, version and who updated it.
- An empty list for a type and document type means nothing is configured, not even a shared base.
