Version history

Find every version of a map or profile, compare any two, and delete drafts you no longer need.
Because every save makes a new version, the history of a map or profile is a complete record of what changed and when. In this lesson you will open it, compare two versions, and tidy up drafts.
Open the version history
There are two ways:
- On a map or profile, select Versions.
- In a list, open the row menu and select Version history.
The page lists each version, its status (Draft, Live or Archived) and when it changed.
Compare two versions
- Select a version. It shows Before.
- Select a second version. It shows After.
- The differences show below.
Bodies are stored exactly as they were written, so the comparison is a plain text comparison of the two bodies. Pick the older one as Before so additions read as additions.
Comparing is how you investigate
When a customer says "this worked last week", find the version that was live last week (look at when each changed), make it Before, make the live version After, and read the differences. That is usually the fastest route to the cause.
Changes or Versions?

| Versions | You want to compare any two versions, including archived ones. |
Delete a draft
To delete a draft, open its row menu in the version history and select Delete draft. You can delete only a draft. Live and archived versions stay for good, because an overlay might be pinned to one, and because they are the record of what ran.
What changed in the Acme parse map?
Since Tuesday, Northbank Fulfilment's despatch files for Hilltop Coffee have been creating Shipments without tracking numbers. You open the Acme shipment parse map's Versions. v6 went live on Tuesday morning. You select v5 (Before) and v6 (After). The differences show that the path for the tracking number was changed. You now know which version, which change and when, and you can roll back or fix forward.

- Select two versions to see Before and After and the differences below.
- Changes compares a draft with live; Versions compares any two versions.
- Only drafts can be deleted, with Delete draft.
- Comparing the last good version with the live one is the quickest way to find what broke.
