The integration type page
Lesson 8 of 25 4 min read
The three tabs of an integration type, which buttons appear where, and the one tab that has a Save button.
The integration type page is where you'll spend most of your time on routing and modules. This short lesson makes sure you know what each tab holds and how saving works on each, because the tabs behave differently.
Open the page
Open Administration → Integrations → Integration Types, then select a type.
The three tabs
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Details | The name, description, switches, capabilities, categories and code lists of the type. |
| Routing | Which service gets each message type. |
| Modules | Which module runs each message type. |
Saving works differently on each tab
- The Save and Refresh buttons at the top show only on the Details tab. Changes on Details wait until you select Save.
- The Routing and Modules tabs save each change immediately.
- The Delete button shows on all tabs.
Don't look for Save on the Routing tab
If you are used to the Details tab, it's easy to assume the Routing tab also waits for Save. It doesn't. When you tick, untick or switch something on the Routing or Modules tab, it has already happened.
Categories on the Details tab
One Details setting matters for routing jobs: Categories. For a config-driven type, organisations see the type in the add integration dialog only when it's in a category. You'll use this in the config-driven scenario later in the course.
Linking to a tab
You can link straight to a tab by adding ?tab=routing or ?tab=modules to the page address.
Two edits, two behaviours
You open Acme SFTP. On the Details tab you correct a typo in the description, then move to the Routing tab and pause the Receive row. Later, you notice the description still shows the typo.
Why? The Details tab waits for Save, and you moved away without saving. The Routing change, though, took effect immediately. Go back to Details, fix the typo again and select Save.
Recap
- The integration type page has Details, Routing and Modules tabs.
- Only Details has Save and Refresh. Routing and Modules save each change immediately.
- Delete shows on every tab.
- Categories on Details controls whether organisations can see a config-driven type when they add an integration.
