Run an Integration manually
Lesson 10 of 21 5 min read
Trigger an Integration on demand with Run send and receive, Run receive or Run send, and know when each one is the right choice.
Sometimes you can't wait for the next scheduled run: you're testing, you've just fixed a problem, or the Integration has no schedule at all. This lesson shows you how to run an Integration on demand, and which of the three options to use.
The Manual Operation card
- Open Settings → Integration setup → Integrations.
- Click the Integration you want to run.
- In the Manual Operation card, choose:
- Run send & receive
- Run receive
- Run send
Which button?
| Button | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Run receive | Collects new data from the other system into Supply Lens | You've just placed a test order in the shop, or the 3PL says it has despatched and you want the confirmation now |
| Run send | Delivers data waiting in Supply Lens to the other system | You've fixed and reprocessed a Document and want it in the ERP now |
| Run send & receive | Both | You want the Integration fully up to date, for example after re-enabling it |
Run the right Integration
Run the Integration at the end of the flow you're interested in. To collect despatches from your 3PL, run receive on the 3PL Integration. To push sales orders into your ERP, run send on the ERP Integration.
Manual runs and manual Mappings
They're different things. A manual run triggers an Integration now. A manual Mapping (one with
Automatic switched off) leaves matching Documents waiting as Ready until someone processes them.
If a Document is Ready, run the Mapping or the target Integration manually to move it on.
Hilltop's first test order
Priya places a test order on Shopify for a bag of House Blend, using the Unleashed sandbox as the target. She doesn't want to wait for the hourly schedule, so:
- On the Shopify Integration she clicks Run receive. The order appears under Sales → Orders in Supply Lens.
- The Mapping to the sandbox is set to manual for testing, so the order shows as
Ready. She processes it. - On the sandbox Integration she clicks Run send. A few minutes later the sales order is in the Unleashed sandbox.
Each step is something she can check before moving to the next.
Recap
- Use the Manual Operation card to run an Integration now, with or without a schedule.
- Run receive collects data in; Run send delivers data out; Run send & receive does both.
- Run the Integration at the relevant end of the flow.
- A manual run is not the same as a manual Mapping, which leaves Documents
Ready.
