Run, test and check
Lesson 15 of 15 8 min read
Switch your Integrations on, run a test order end to end, confirm it arrived, and choose how the Integrations should run from now on.
Everything is in place. Now you prove it works with one test transaction before real customers depend on it. In this lesson you will enable your Integrations, run a test order end to end, check it at each step, and then set up schedules for normal running.
1. Switch the Integrations on
On each Integration's panel, set Activation to Enabled. The list shows an Enabled badge once it is on. Some Integrations start their first sync as soon as you enable them, so new data may begin to appear straight away.
2. Create a test transaction
Make a test in the source system. For Hilltop, that is a test order in Shopify. With webhooks set up, Shopify tells Supply Lens about it straight away.
3. Run the Integration by hand if needed
If the data has not arrived, or the Integration has no webhook or schedule yet, run it yourself:
- Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations.
- Click the Integration to expand it.
- In the Manual Operation card, choose Run send & receive, Run send or Run receive.
Receive collects new data from the system; Send delivers anything waiting to go to it.
4. Check each step
- Did it arrive? Wait a few minutes, then open Sales → Orders. Your test order should be in the list. In general, open the menu screen that matches the document type you configured.
- What status is it?
Completemeans it was processed to at least one Mapping.Readymeans the Mapping is manual and it is waiting for you.Failedmeans something went wrong; open the Logs to see why. - Was it sent? Open the Document and use the links menu in the top-right to go to the target data created from it. That is exactly what was sent to Unleashed.
- Is it in the target system? Look for the order in Unleashed itself.
Hilltop's first test order
Priya places a test order in Shopify for one bag of decaf. A notification appears in Supply
Lens and the order shows in Sales → Orders with status Ready, because she left the
Orders Mapping manual. She opens it, checks the customer, address and SKU, and processes it to
the Unleashed Mapping. The status becomes Complete, the links menu shows target data for
"Unleashed (sandbox)", and the sales order appears in the Unleashed sandbox.
She also adjusts the decaf stock in Unleashed and runs Run receive on the Unleashed Integration. Shortly afterwards the new stock level shows in Shopify.
5. Decide how it runs from now on
Once the test passes, set each Integration to run on its own:
- Schedule: click Schedule on the Integration panel to see whether one is in place and choose an interval. The help centre lists intervals of 30 minutes and 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 hours. Integrations can also have several jobs, each with its own schedules at regular intervals or on a cron timetable in a time zone you choose.
- Webhooks: where the system supports them, as with Shopify orders, they bring data in as it happens.
- Manual only: possible, but then nothing moves unless someone presses a button.
Then go back to your manual Mappings and switch Automatic on when you are happy.
Going from sandbox to live
If you tested against a sandbox, connect the live account as its own Integration, add the same Configurations, and move your Mappings across to it. On the Mappings list, the migrate button moves every Mapping that uses one Integration over to another in a single step, and tells you how many will change first. Disable or remove the sandbox Integration afterwards so test and live data do not mix.
Where next
You now have a working flow. The next course, Working with Documents day to day, teaches you to find and read Documents, understand every status, act on Documents that need you, and follow a fault-finding routine when something does not arrive.
Recap
- Enable each Integration, create a test transaction, and run the Integration by hand if needed.
- Check the Document arrived, read its status, follow the links menu to its target data, then confirm in the target system.
Readymeans a manual Mapping is waiting for you;Failedmeans read the logs.- Once tests pass, set schedules or rely on webhooks, and turn Automatic on for your Mappings.
- Moving from sandbox to live: connect live separately and migrate the Mappings across.
