Create the Unleashed Integration

Lesson 4 of 24 7 min read

Connect your Unleashed Sandbox first, then understand each card on the Integration tile.

With your credentials in hand, creating the Integration takes a couple of minutes. This lesson shows you how to connect the Unleashed Sandbox first, why that is the recommended starting point, and what each card on the Integration tile controls.

Start with the Sandbox

The Unleashed Sandbox is a secure, separate environment that mirrors your Unleashed account as it was when the Sandbox was created. You can test, train and experiment in it without affecting live data. Supply Lens recommends setting up and testing against a Sandbox before creating your live Unleashed Integration.

When you connect a Sandbox, Supply Lens automatically puts Sandbox at the front of the Integration's name, so you can always see which one you are working with.

Setting up a Sandbox

Sandboxes are created in Unleashed, not in Supply Lens. Unleashed's own guide, How to set up the Sandbox, explains the steps. Remember that the Sandbox is a snapshot: products or customers you add to live Unleashed afterwards will not be in it.

Create the Integration

  1. Log in to Supply Lens.
  2. Select Settings → Integration setup → Integrations in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click + ADD INTEGRATION in the top right to show the available Integrations.
  4. Click ADD on the Unleashed Integration.
  5. Complete the form with the API ID and API Key for the account you are connecting (the Sandbox's, for now).
  6. Click CONNECT.

Your new Integration appears in the list. Click its arrow to expand it and see the full Integration tile.

The Integration tile

Each card on the tile controls one aspect of the Integration.
ActivationWhether the Integration can run at all. When disabled, nothing is sent to or received from Unleashed. Leave it disabled until your configurations and Mappings are ready.
StateWhether the Integration transmits as Live or Test. This mainly matters for EDI Integrations and can be left unset for Unleashed.
ConfigurationsWhich message types this Integration sends and receives, and the settings for each. Most of this course is about what goes in here.
ScheduleHow often the Integration runs. If the schedule is disabled, you have to run it manually.
Default Unit of MeasureForces every quantity sent or received on this Integration into one unit of measure. Leave it unset to use each Product default unit of measure.
Manual OperationRun the Integration now, outside the schedule.
RemovePermanently removes the Integration and its stored credentials. Documents already created are kept.

The tile also shows a key and an id. The system sets these automatically. Note the Integration ID somewhere handy: Support will ask for it if you ever need help.

Remove is permanent

Removing an Integration deletes its secure credentials. To reconnect you will need the API ID and Key again. If you only want to pause it, set Activation to disabled instead.

Hilltop Coffee connects its Sandbox

Priya creates the Integration with the Sandbox credentials. It appears as Sandbox Unleashed. She leaves Activation disabled, leaves State and Default Unit of Measure unset because Hilltop sells in each Product's own units, and copies the Integration ID into her project notes.

Recap

  • Connect the Unleashed Sandbox first; Supply Lens prefixes its name with Sandbox.
  • Create the Integration from Settings → Integration setup → Integrations → + ADD INTEGRATION with the API ID and Key.
  • Keep Activation disabled until configurations and Mappings are ready.
  • Use Default Unit of Measure only if every quantity on this Integration must be in one unit.
  • Note the Integration ID for Support. Remove deletes credentials permanently.
