Supply Lens

How do I send data from one system to another?

Add a Mapping

Create a Mapping that routes a document type from one Integration to another, and narrow it to particular customers, Locations or tags if you need to.

About 5 min

A Mapping tells Supply Lens where to send a Document once it has arrived. When you've finished, Documents of your chosen type will flow from one Integration to another.

Before you start

  • Both Integrations exist, with matching Configurations: Receive on the source for this document type, and Send on the target. See Add a Configuration.
  • You know the flow you want, for example Orders from Shopify to Unleashed. Each arrow in your data-flow plan is one Mapping.
  • If you'll filter by customer or Location, those Parties and Locations exist and are matched on incoming Documents.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Mappings.
  2. Click + ADD in the top-right.
  3. Set Map to the document type, such as Order, Inventory or Shipment.
  4. Set From to the source Integration.
  5. Set As to Target Data to send straight to the target. Choose Document only when you need an intermediate Supply Lens Document, for example to make an Invoice from a Shipment, followed by a second Mapping.
  6. Set To to the destination Integration.
  7. Tick Enabled. Tick Automatic to run it whenever a matching Document arrives; leave it off while testing so Documents wait as Ready until you process them.
  8. Leave the Matching filters blank unless you need to split a flow (see below).
  9. Click SAVE.

Narrow a Mapping (optional)

Every blank filter means "all". Fill one in only to restrict the Mapping.

FieldOnly run for Documents…
Customerfrom this customer
Supplierfrom this supplier
Ship to / Ship to locationaddressed to this Party or Location
Ship from / Ship from locationsent from this Party or Location
Tagscarrying these tags (one per line)
Status update typeswhen these status updates occur (one per line)

Under Target, Target tags adds tags to what's produced at the target, one per line.

To send the same document type to two places, create two Mappings from the same source. Each runs independently; if one fails, the other isn't affected.

Check it worked

  • The Mapping appears in the Mappings list with Enabled ticked (and Automatic, if you chose it).
  • Click the eye icon on the Mappings screen to see the flow in the Mappings diagram. Disabled Mappings show as dotted arrows.
  • Process a test Document: its status becomes Complete and it has Target Data for the destination.

If something goes wrong

  • Documents sit as Ready. Automatic is off. Process them by hand, or tick Automatic.
  • The Mapping doesn't run for some Documents. Check for a filter set by mistake, or a customer or Location that isn't matched on those Documents.
  • Nothing reaches the target. See Fix a Document not reaching its target.
