Supply Lens

How do I connect my BigCommerce store to Supply Lens?

Add BigCommerce

Connect a BigCommerce store with its credentials file, then bring orders and product updates in and send stock and shipments back.

About 5 min

At the end of this guide your BigCommerce store will be connected to Supply Lens, with orders flowing to your back office and stock flowing back, tested on one order.

Before you start

  • A BigCommerce API account and its credentials file. Create the API account in BigCommerce and keep the file it gives you safe: BigCommerce only offers it when the API account is created.
  • Admin access to Supply Lens, to reach Settings → Integration setup.
  • Your ERP or IMS already connected. See Add an Integration.
  • SKUs aligned exactly between BigCommerce and your item master. See Align your SKUs.
  • Your BigCommerce Tax Rate ID, from the store's tax settings, if you'll import product updates.
  • A fulfilment Location, if orders should carry one. See Add a Location.

Steps

Create and connect

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations.
  2. Click + ADD INTEGRATION, search for BigCommerce and click ADD.
  3. Upload or paste the credentials file. The form fills in the details for you.
  4. Click CONNECT. Leave Activation disabled for now.

Add Configurations

  1. Expand the tile, click Configurations, then + Add. Add the types you need, clicking Create Default JSON and Save for each: Order (Receive), Inventory (Send), Product Update (Receive) and Shipment.
  2. In Order, set includeStatuses. It's empty by default, which imports orders in every status, including unpaid or cancelled ones. Set defaultFulfillmentLocationId if needed.
  3. In Inventory, turn assignToDefaultAllotment on if the store sells from a single pool, or leave it off for BigCommerce multi-location inventory.
  4. In Product Update, set taxRateId. Tax isn't handled properly without it.
  5. Shipment has no settings of its own; the defaults work.

Add Mappings

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Mappings and click + ADD.
  2. Create, for example, Order from BigCommerce to your ERP, and Inventory from your ERP to BigCommerce. Add a Shipment Mapping to BigCommerce if tracking should go back.
  3. Set As to Target Data, tick Enabled, leave Automatic off while testing, and click SAVE.

Test

  1. Set Activation to Enabled, with no schedule.
  2. Place a test order in BigCommerce, in one of your included statuses.
  3. Click Run Receive under Manual Operation.

Check it worked

  • The test order appears under Sales → Orders in Supply Lens, and only orders in your chosen statuses arrive.
  • After processing, the order reaches your ERP. A stock change sent back shows in BigCommerce's inventory history with the reason "Supply Lens inventory sync" (the default adjustmentReason).
  • Then set a Schedule and turn Automatic on for your Mappings.

If something goes wrong

  • Unpaid or cancelled orders arrive. Set includeStatuses, or add them to excludeStatuses.
  • Orders arrive before another app has finished with them. Set an importDelay.
  • Product tax is wrong. Check taxRateId on Product Update. See the BigCommerce settings.
  • The connection stops working. See Update integration credentials.
