Supply Lens

How do I add a GLN, warehouse code or depot code to a location?

Add a Location identifier

Give a Location the codes each system or partner uses for it, and narrow a code to one Integration or one customer.

About 3 min

At the end of this guide your Location will carry a code that Supply Lens can match on incoming Documents, or send to a system that needs it, such as the warehouse code your ERP expects.

Before you start

  • The Location must exist. See Add a Location.
  • Know the identifier type and its exact value. See Location identifier types.
  • If the code is one customer's own code for the place, that customer must exist as a Party.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Reference data → Locations and click the Edit button on the Location.
  2. Click the + icon in the Identifiers section.
  3. Fill in the form: the identifier type and its value.
  4. If needed, use the Advanced settings:
    • Integration: the identifier only applies when that Integration sends or receives.
    • Customer: the identifier only applies on Documents for that customer. Use this when each customer has its own code for the same place.
  5. Click Save Identifier.

Check it worked

  • The identifier is listed in the Location's Identifiers section. Customer-linked codes show their customer in the Customer column.
  • On the next Document that names this code, the ship-to or ship-from shows a green tick.

If something goes wrong

  • The wrong code is sent. For Locations, an Integration-scoped code beats a customer-scoped one, and a code scoped to another customer is never sent. See How Supply Lens matches codes.
  • An identifier shows its Integration as Unknown. The Integration it referred to can no longer be found, for example because it was removed. Replace or remove the identifier.
