How do I add a price, or a customer-specific price, to a product?
Add Product prices
Add a default price to a Product, and optionally a price for one customer or for a set period.
About 3 min
At the end of this guide your Product will have a price that Supply Lens can use on orders, optionally specific to one customer or to a range of dates.
Before you start
- The Product must exist. See Add a Product.
- Each price is for one unit of measure, so the unit (for example Bag or Case) must be set up. See Add Units of Measure.
- For a customer-specific price, the customer must exist as a Party. See Add a Party.
Steps
- Open Settings → Reference data → Products.
- Click the Edit icon on the Product.
- In the Prices section, click + to open the Add price window.
- Enter the Price, and choose the Currency and the Unit of Measure the price is for. All three are mandatory.
- Optionally, use the Advanced section:
- Customer: choose a customer for a customer-specific price. Leave it empty if the price applies to all customers.
- From / To: choose a date range if the price only applies for a set period. Leave it empty if the price applies all the time.
- Click SAVE PRICE.
Good to know
A bag price and a case price are two separate prices. On an incoming line, Supply Lens works out the line's unit first and then looks up the price in that unit, so add a price for each unit your customers order in.
Check it worked
- The new price is listed in the Product's Prices section, with its currency, unit and any customer or dates.
- When you edit an order in Supply Lens and set the SKU on a line, the price is filled in from the Product's prices.
If something goes wrong
- The customer isn't in the Customer drop-down. Add them as a Party first.
- The unit isn't in the Unit of Measure drop-down. Add it on the Units of Measure screen first.
- An order picks up the wrong price. Check the line's unit: the price is looked up in the unit the line resolved to. See How Supply Lens matches codes.
