How do I import my products from Shopify into my back-office system?
Import Shopify products
Use a Product Updates Configuration, a Mapping and a manual receive to load your Shopify catalogue into your ERP or inventory system.
About 5 min
If your products were first set up in Shopify, you can use them to fill your back-office system's item master instead of keying them in again. By the end of this guide your Shopify products will be in your back-office system (often called a BOS, or an IMS: inventory management system).
Before you start
- A Shopify Integration. See Add Shopify.
- An Integration for the back-office system you're importing into.
Steps
Add a Product Updates Configuration to Shopify
- Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations and expand the Shopify Integration you want to import from.
- Click Configurations, then + ADD to open the Add configuration window.
- Choose
Product Updatesas the document type and tick Receive enabled. - Click Create default JSON to fill in the settings.
- Set
setupDateandlastImportDateto dates in the past, withsetupDateearlier thanlastImportDate. - Save the Configuration.
setupDate must be earlier than lastImportDate
If setupDate isn't earlier than lastImportDate, the import runs into problems. This is the one time you set these dates yourself.
By default only active Shopify products are imported. To include drafts or archived products, change productStatuses. See Shopify product update settings for this and the tax rate settings.
Add a Product Updates Mapping
- Go to Settings → Integration setup → Mappings and click + ADD.
- Choose
Product Updatesas the document type. - Choose the Shopify Integration in From integration.
- Choose your back-office Integration in To integration.
- Save the Mapping.
Run receive on Shopify
- Go back to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations and expand the Shopify Integration.
- Click Run receive to fetch the product update Document.
Check it worked
The product update Document flows from Shopify into Supply Lens, then on to your back-office system. Browse your products there and check they've arrived as you expect.
If something goes wrong
- Nothing is imported. Check the dates: both in the past,
setupDateearlier thanlastImportDate. Check the Configuration has Receive enabled and the Shopify Integration's Activation is Enabled. - Some products are missing. They may not be
activein Shopify. AdddraftorarchivedtoproductStatusesif you need them. - The Document arrives but nothing reaches the back office. Check the Mapping is Enabled and points at the right Integration. See Fix a Document not reaching its target.
