Supply Lens

How do I add Shopify?

Add Shopify

Link your Shopify store to Supply Lens, switch on orders, stock and fulfilments, set up webhooks and Mappings, and prove it with a test order.

About 7 min

By the end of this guide your Shopify store will be linked to Supply Lens, with orders flowing in, stock and fulfilments flowing back, and a test order to prove it.

Before you start

  • An active Shopify store on any plan, and admin access to it. Some steps need the store owner.
  • A Supply Lens account with permission to add Integrations.
  • An Integration for the system orders go to, such as your ERP. See Add an integration or Add Unleashed.
  • SKUs that match. Every Shopify variant needs its own SKU, matching your back-office system exactly. A variant with a blank SKU gives Supply Lens nothing to match. See Align your SKUs.
  • A few sample orders to test with: a normal one, a discounted one and a multi-item one.

Steps

Create and connect the Integration

The Add Shopify window offers two ways to link a store. Linking with a code is shown first.

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations and click + ADD INTEGRATION.
  2. Click ADD on Shopify to open the Add Shopify window.
  3. Copy the link code. Once you've copied it, the window closes by itself after 10 seconds unless you choose Keep open.
  4. In your Shopify admin, open the Supply Lens app and enter the code to link the store.

To connect with your store domain instead, expand the store domain section of the Add Shopify window, choose your store or type its address ending in .myshopify.com (not your customer-facing domain), and click its Connect button. This route relies on a collaborator request that the store owner approves first.

An older version of the Add Shopify window, showing only the store domain route. The current window shows the link code first.

Either way, a tile for your store appears in the Integrations list. It does nothing yet.

Add Configurations and webhooks

  1. Expand the Shopify tile and click Configurations, then + ADD.
  2. Choose a document type and tick Receive, Send or both. These are from Supply Lens's point of view.
  3. Click Create Default JSON, then Save.
  4. Repeat for each type you need (see the table below).
  5. Back on the tile, click Setup in the Webhooks section so Shopify tells Supply Lens about changes straight away.
ConfigurationUsual directionWhat it does

ShipmentsSend, Receive or bothSend creates fulfilments with tracking in Shopify; receive brings in fulfilments made in Shopify

Check the order filters before you switch on

The default Orders settings decide which orders come in, for example paid and unfulfilled orders, excluding point of sale. setupDate stops historical orders being pulled in. Don't edit lastImportDate: Supply Lens manages it. See Shopify order settings.

Add Mappings

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Mappings and click + ADD.
  2. Create Order from Shopify, as Target Data, to your back-office Integration, and click SAVE.
  3. Create the return flows: Inventory and Shipment from your back-office Integration to Shopify.

Test

  1. On the Shopify tile, toggle Activation to Enabled. The first sync starts straight away.
  2. Create a test order in Shopify.
  3. Wait a few minutes.

Check it worked

  • Your test order appears in Sales → Orders in Supply Lens. Open it and check the Logs section.
  • The order reaches your back-office system with the right customer, SKUs, quantities and prices.
  • Despatch it in your back-office system: Shopify should show it fulfilled, with tracking.
  • Change stock for one product: Shopify's figure should update.

If something goes wrong

  • No order arrives. Check Activation is Enabled, the Orders Configuration has Receive ticked, and the order's status matches your order filters.
  • The order is held with a product error. Its SKU doesn't match your back-office system. See Fix "product does not exist".
  • The tile shows Uninstalled. The Supply Lens app was removed from the store. Reconnect it from the Supply Lens app in your Shopify admin. See Fix connection or login failures.
  • Still stuck? Contact support@supplylens.co.uk with the Integration ID.
