Supply Lens

Connect your store

Lesson 3 of 18 6 min read

Give Supply Lens access to your Shopify store and create the Shopify Integration.

Before Supply Lens can read orders or update stock, your store has to trust it. In this lesson you'll give Supply Lens access to your store and create the Shopify Integration, so that a tile for your store appears on the Integrations page.

Two ways to link a store

There are two routes, and the Add Shopify window offers both:

  • Link with a code, using the Supply Lens app in Shopify. Supply Lens has an app in your Shopify admin. It shows which Supply Lens organisations your store is linked to and lets you open them in Supply Lens. You get a link code from the Shopify connection in Supply Lens and enter it in the app.
  • Connect with your store domain. You enter the store's .myshopify.com address. This route uses a collaborator request, which the store owner approves first.

The Add Shopify window shows the link-code route first. Connecting with your store domain sits in a section you can expand, with its own Connect button.

Route 1: link with a code

  1. In Supply Lens, go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations and click + ADD INTEGRATION.
  2. Click ADD on the Shopify card to open the Add Shopify window.
  3. Copy the link code. Once you've copied it, the window closes by itself after 10 seconds unless you choose Keep open.
  4. In your Shopify admin, open the Supply Lens app and enter the code to link the store.

Installed or uninstalled

The Supply Lens app in Shopify shows whether each store is installed or uninstalled. From the app you can reconnect an uninstalled store, or refresh the connection for an installed store, without leaving Shopify. In Supply Lens, an uninstalled Integration shows a grey Uninstalled label and a greyed-out panel, and its settings can't be changed. You can still remove it and its saved credentials.

Route 2: connect with your store domain

This route starts with a collaborator request. A collaborator code is a four-digit code that lets an outside party ask for access to your store. Shopify's help explains how to find or assign it under collaborator accounts.

  1. Find your store's collaborator code in Shopify and share it with the Supply Lens team.
  2. Supply Lens sends a collaborator request to your store.
  3. The store owner approves the request. Your store is then available to choose inside Supply Lens.
  4. In Supply Lens, go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations, click + ADD INTEGRATION and click ADD on the Shopify card.
  5. Expand the store domain section, then choose the newly approved store from the list or type its address ending in .myshopify.com.
  6. Click CONNECT.
Connecting with your store domain. The address must end in .myshopify.com.

Use the .myshopify.com address

Your customers may see a custom domain such as hilltopcoffee.co.uk, but Supply Lens needs the store's original .myshopify.com address. You'll find it in your Shopify admin settings.

What you should see

Whichever route you use, a new tile for your Shopify store appears in the Integrations list. It isn't doing anything yet: it has no Configurations and it isn't activated. You'll add those in the next two lessons.

Hilltop Coffee connects

Priya opens + ADD INTEGRATION, adds Shopify and copies the link code. She enters it in the Supply Lens app in Hilltop's Shopify admin. Back in Supply Lens, a tile for hilltop-coffee.myshopify.com is now on the Integrations page, ready to configure.

Recap

  • Link a store with a code using the Supply Lens app in Shopify, or connect with the store's .myshopify.com domain.
  • The domain route relies on a collaborator request that the store owner approves.
  • After connecting, a tile for the store appears on the Integrations page.
  • An uninstalled store shows as Uninstalled and can be reconnected from the app.
