Receive fulfilments from Shopify
Lesson 12 of 18 5 min read
Bring fulfilments made in Shopify into Supply Lens, and filter which ones you import.
Not every order is fulfilled through your back-office system. Some businesses fulfil in Shopify itself, or through a Shopify app, and still need the despatch recorded elsewhere. In this lesson you'll learn how to receive Shopify fulfilments into Supply Lens and choose which ones to import.
When you need this
Tick Receive on the Shipments Configuration when fulfilments happen in Shopify and another system needs to know, for example:
- A shop team fulfils local orders in Shopify, and your back-office system needs the despatch to reduce stock or raise an invoice.
- A fulfilment app connected to Shopify ships the orders, and Supply Lens needs the tracking.
You can tick both Send and Receive if fulfilments happen in both places. Take care not to create a loop, where a fulfilment sent to Shopify is received back again and sent on. Check your Mappings with your Supply Lens contact if you need both.
Which fulfilments come in
| setupDate | Only shipments on or after this date are processed. Set automatically and not normally changed. |
|---|---|
| lastImportDate | The most recent import. Updated by Supply Lens after each run; do not edit it. |
| importDelay | A wait before a shipment is imported, so other systems can make changes first. Written as a duration such as 00:05:00. |
| includeFulfillmentStatuses | When it has values, only fulfilments with one of these statuses are imported, for example FULFILLED. Empty means all statuses. |
| excludeFulfillmentStatuses | Fulfilment statuses to skip, even if they would otherwise be imported. |
| includeFulfillmentDisplayStatus | When it has values, only fulfilments with one of these display statuses (the customer-facing state) are imported. |
| excludeFulfillmentDisplayStatus | Display statuses to skip. |
When to choose which. Use the include lists when you only want one kind, such as completed fulfilments. Use the exclude lists when you want almost everything apart from a few states, such as skipping pending ones.
Money and tax on received fulfilments
| usePresentmentMoney | When true, amounts come from the customer’s currency rather than the store’s base currency. |
|---|---|
| taxCodeIdentifiersByCountry | Which identifiers find the tax code for each country. Works exactly like the order setting and should normally be kept in step with it. Default: shopify-tax-code-title and uncl5305-code. |
| shippingTaxCodeIdentifiersByCountry | Present for consistency with orders. A fulfilment only carries goods lines, so it does not currently affect shipments. |
Tip
For received fulfilments, the tax country is the order's delivery address, falling back to billing, because a fulfilled line is physical goods.
Hilltop Coffee's market stall
At weekend markets, Hilltop staff hand over pre-ordered bags and mark those orders as
fulfilled in Shopify. Unleashed needs to know so the stock and invoice are right. Priya
ticks Receive on the Shipments Configuration and sets includeFulfillmentStatuses to
["FULFILLED"]. She also copies her UK tax identifiers from the order Configuration so the
two stay in step.
Recap
- Tick Receive on Shipments when fulfilments happen in Shopify and another system needs them.
- Filter with include and exclude lists for status and display status.
- Keep
taxCodeIdentifiersByCountryin step with the order Configuration. - If you both send and receive, check your Mappings so fulfilments don't loop.
