Go live and the first fortnight
Lesson 13 of 15 5 min read
The checks to make before switching on, on day one and over the first two weeks, so problems are caught while they are small.
Going live is not a single moment. It is a short sequence of checks before, on and after the day. Do them well and the first two weeks are quiet.
Before go-live
- Every test scenario has passed or has an agreed workaround, and the results are signed off.
- Production credentials are in place and the connection works.
- SKUs are frozen: no renaming items in the Item Master or the storefront around the go-live window.
- Any test orders and test Business Partners created in a live Enterpryze company are cleaned up or clearly marked.
- The go-live date is agreed with everyone involved, including any 3PL.
- Your team knows what to check on day one and how to report a problem.
- The Integration Schedule is switched on.
No backlog surprise
The Order Configuration's setupDate means only orders created on or after that date are picked up, so switching on does not pull in old orders.
Day one
- The first live order arrived in Enterpryze correctly, checked end to end: Business Partner, lines, SKUs, shipping and tax.
- Stock levels in your channels match Enterpryze.
- The first despatch flowed back to the channel.
- No unexpected alerts or held orders in the first 24 hours.
The first fortnight
- Check for held orders and alerts every day.
- Review and resolve each exception promptly. A held order usually means a SKU or code problem that will repeat until it is fixed.
- Watch for duplicate Business Partners if you create one per customer.
- Agree and apply any rule changes, then retest the scenario they affect.
Fernhill's first morning
Fernhill goes live on a Tuesday, a quieter day than Monday. By 10am, 14 orders have arrived in Enterpryze against WEB-DTC. One order is held: a customer bought a new lip balm that the marketing team added to WooCommerce the night before, before it existed in the Item Master. Fernhill creates the item, the held order is processed, and the team adds "create the item in Enterpryze first" to its new product checklist.
Recap
- Before go-live: signed-off tests, production credentials, frozen SKUs, cleaned-up test data, schedule on.
setupDatestops old orders being imported when you switch on.- On day one, check the first order, stock and despatch end to end.
- For two weeks, check held orders and alerts daily and fix the root cause of each.
- New products must exist in the Item Master before they go on sale.
