How do I set which warehouse a product ships from by default?
Set a default fulfilment Location
Choose the Location a Product ships from when an order doesn't say, so orders carry the right warehouse automatically.
About 2 min
At the end of this guide your Product will have a default fulfilment Location: the place it ships from whenever an order doesn't provide one.
Before you start
- The Location must already exist. See Add a Location.
- The Product can be new or existing. To create one, see Add a Product.
Steps
- Open Settings → Reference data → Products.
- Create a new Product with + ADD, or click the Edit icon on an existing one.
- In the Information section, open the Default fulfilment location drop-down. On the Add new product window the same field is labelled Default fulfillment location.
- Choose the Location the Product normally ships from, and save your changes.
Good to know
The default only fills a gap. If an order already names a fulfilment Location, that Location is used; if it doesn't, the Product's default is used.
Check it worked
- The Location is shown in the Product's Information section.
- The next order for this Product that doesn't name a Location carries this one.
If something goes wrong
- The Location isn't in the drop-down. It hasn't been added yet, or it was deleted. Add it, then come back to the Product.
- Some Products ship from one site and some from another. Set each Product's default to match. To route whole orders to different warehouses, use a Mapping filter on Ship from location. See Add a Mapping.
