Add your trading partners
Lesson 17 of 22 5 min read
Use the second step of the Peppol Wizard to find and add the organisations you'll send documents to, and know what to do when a partner isn't listed.
You can only send a Peppol message to a receiver you've set up as a trading partner. In this lesson you'll add your partners in the wizard, and learn the routes for adding a partner later or one that isn't in the list.
Why trading partners come first
When you create a message, the Receiver list only contains the trading partners you've set up. No trading partner, no receiver, no message. Adding them now saves a detour later.
Add partners in the wizard
Supply Lens keeps a list of common trading partners you can search.
- Type the trading partner's name in the Search box.
- Choose a country from the list to narrow the search.
- Tick the checkbox next to each trading partner you want.
- Click Add Selected.
- Click Done to leave the wizard.
Search by the legal name
Public bodies are often registered under their formal name, which may not be what you call them day to day. If "Library Services" finds nothing, try the council's full legal name and filter by country.
Adding partners later
You don't have to add everyone now. There are three routes afterwards:
| Metadata → Trading Partners | Add new trading partners at any time from the Metadata area. |
|---|---|
| When you send | Partners can also be added manually when you go to send your first message to them. |
| Ask Support | If a trading partner can't be found in the directory, contact the Support Team (support@supplylens.co.uk) and they'll add it for you. |
Ashby Joinery adds the council
Ashby searches for the council by its common name and finds nothing. Filtering by United Kingdom and searching the council's full legal name brings it up. She ticks it, clicks Add Selected, then Done. Ashby also invoices a housing association that isn't in the list, so she makes a note to ask Support to add it before the first invoice is due.
Recap
- The Receiver list on a new message only shows trading partners you've set up.
- In the wizard: search, filter by country, tick, Add Selected, then Done.
- Add more partners later from Metadata → Trading Partners, or manually when sending.
- If a partner can't be found in the directory, the Support Team can add it.
