Supply Lens

ControlPort setup and flows

Lesson 19 of 28 5 min read

Connect ControlPort, understand its order, stock and shipment flows, and set up the product and warehouse identifiers it relies on.

ControlPort is a warehouse and fulfilment system. Its Supply Lens settings lean heavily on tags: the channel account, order type and pre-order rules for each order are all chosen from the order's tags. It also has one of the richer postage mappings.

By the end of this lesson you will know ControlPort's three flows and the identifiers it needs.

The ControlPort flows

Settings groupDirectionWhat it does
ControlPort OrderOrders to ControlPortSets channel account, order type and pre-order rules from tags, and translates carrier services into postage settings
ControlPort InventoryReceiveImports stock, optionally per warehouse and with batches
ControlPort ShipmentReceiveImports shipments using the standard import window

Identifiers

ControlPort has its own identifier types in Supply Lens:

  • ControlPort Product ID on Products, for products whose ControlPort id differs from your SKU.
  • ControlPort Warehouse Id on Locations.

Tags drive the order

Three of the four order settings read tags. Before you configure ControlPort, find out which tags the source system puts on orders. If orders are not tagged consistently, the tag rules have nothing to match. Tag generation on the source Integration, or tags set upstream, may be needed first.

Set it up

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations, click + ADD INTEGRATION and click ADD on ControlPort. Complete the connection form and click CONNECT.
  2. Add Configurations for orders (Send), shipments (Receive) and inventory (Receive), using Create Default JSON.
  3. Add ControlPort Warehouse Id identifiers to your Locations, and ControlPort Product IDs to Products where needed.
  4. Collect ControlPort's channel account ids and order type values from the warehouse.
  5. Create the Mappings.

Juniper Pet Co's subscription boxes

Juniper Pet Co sells one-off orders and monthly subscription boxes, all tagged by the storefront as one-off or subscription. Its ControlPort warehouse handles the two through different channel accounts and order types, and allows pre-orders on subscription boxes so they can be released before stock lands. Tags are already in place, so ControlPort's tag maps can do all three jobs.

Recap

  • ControlPort has three flows: orders out, shipments back and inventory back.
  • Products can carry a ControlPort Product ID; Locations a ControlPort Warehouse Id.
  • Channel account, order type and pre-order rules all come from order tags.
  • Check the source system's tags before configuring ControlPort.
