The print catalogue and pallet labels
Lesson 28 of 28 8 min read
Tour every print key, then configure the most widely used warehouse print - the pallet label - and the A4 document prints, property by property.
You now know how print entries work. This lesson shows what you can actually print, and goes deep on the generic pallet label and the A4 prints.
The print catalogue
| Print key | Renders from | What it is |
|---|---|---|
pallet-label | Pick | Generic pallet label with SSCC and product barcodes |
tesco-pallet-label | Pick | Pallet label for Tesco |
kehe-shipping-label | Pick | Shipping label for KeHE (no properties) |
backcountry-shipping-label | Pick | Shipping label for Backcountry (no properties) |
3v-delivery-note, 3v-packing-list | Pick | Delivery note and packing list in a 3V layout |
3v-large-label | Pick | Large label in a 3V layout |
we-are-rise-delivery-note | Pick | A detailed delivery note with per-retailer variants |
order-a4 | Order | A4 order |
invoice-a4 | Invoice | A4 invoice |
credit-a4 | Credit | A4 credit note |
proof-of-delivery-a4 | Proof of delivery | A4 proof of delivery |
Several are built for particular retailers or customers. The generic ones you will use most are
pallet-label and the four A4 prints.
The generic pallet label
A pallet label identifies one pallet: who it's from, what's on it and its SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code, the 18-digit number retailers scan to receive a pallet).
| logoUrl | URL of the brand logo at the head of the label. No logo panel is printed without one. |
|---|---|
| widthMillimetres, heightMillimetres | Label size. Defaults 105 by 148 mm (A6). |
| copies | Labels printed per pallet. Default 1. |
| palletUnitOfMeasureId | The unit of measure that identifies a pallet. Falls back to the organisation's default pallet unit, then to every outermost container. |
| requireSscc | Default true: a pallet with no SSCC fails the print rather than printing a label without one. |
| maximumItems | How many products are listed before an overflow note replaces the rest. Default 4. |
| overflowLines | The overflow note. Default: PALLET CONTAINS MORE ITEMS THAN LISTED ABOVE, REFER TO DELIVERY NOTE OR ASN. |
| eanIdentifierType, skuIdentifierType | Product identifier types printed as the EAN (default gtin-14) and SKU (default spc). |
| dateFormat | Format for expiry dates. Default dd.MM.yyyy. |
| quantityUnitOfMeasureId | The unit quantities are converted to; its UN/ECE Rec 20 code is printed after each quantity. Falls back to the quantity's own unit. |
| showProductBarcode | Default true: prints the GS1-128 product barcode above the SSCC barcode. |
Missing SSCCs fail by default
With requireSscc at its default, a pallet without an SSCC fails the print. That's usually
what a retailer needs, because a label without an SSCC can't be received. Only turn it off
for customers who don't scan SSCCs.
Mixed pallets
If a pallet holds more products than maximumItems, the label lists the first ones and
prints the overflow note. Raise maximumItems only if the label size leaves room.
The A4 prints
order-a4, invoice-a4, credit-a4 and proof-of-delivery-a4 share one set of properties:
| logoUrl | URL of the logo at the top of the page. |
|---|---|
| logoBackgroundColor | Background colour behind the logo, as a hex value. |
| logoPaddingCm, logoMaxHeightCm, logoMaxWidthCm | Logo padding and the box it is fitted into. Defaults 0.1, 2.5 and 2.5 cm. |
| noteTags | Notes built from the document's tags, printed beneath the addresses. Each has a prefix, separators and the tags whose values make up the note. |
| lineNotes | Notes beneath each line's description, from a Liquid template plus map expressions evaluated against the line. Replaces the built-in delivery variance note; an empty list prints none. |
lineNotes replaces the variance note
The A4 prints have a built-in delivery variance note on lines. As soon as you set
lineNotes, your notes replace it. Setting lineNotes to an empty list removes line notes
altogether.
Retailer-specific prints in brief
tesco-pallet-labelhas justpalletUnitOfMeasureIdandcopies.- 3V prints take a logo as SVG markup, a web address, an internal contact, a party identifier type for the customer's account number, and up to two document reference types with labels or formats.
we-are-rise-delivery-noteis the most configurable: company, haulier and despatch blocks, signed statements, Liquid templates for Inco Terms, instructions, descriptions and customer codes, and variants chosen by the resolved customer Party, so each retailer can get its own despatch location, codes and wording.
Oakmoor Foods' pallet labels
Oakmoor's grocery customers scan SSCCs at goods-in. The implementer configures one
pallet-label entry:
{
"printKey": "pallet-label",
"properties": {
"logoUrl": "https://example.com/oakmoor-logo.png",
"copies": 2,
"maximumItems": 4,
"dateFormat": "dd/MM/yyyy"
}
}
requireSscc stays at its default so a pallet without an SSCC is caught rather than labelled.
Two copies means one label for each side of the pallet. A despatch of loose cartons with no
pallets simply produces no label.
Recap
- Most warehouse prints render from Picks; the A4 prints render from Orders, Invoices, Credits and Proofs of delivery.
- The generic pallet label prints SSCC and product barcodes and lists up to maximumItems products before an overflow note.
- requireSscc is on by default, so pallets without an SSCC fail the print.
- The A4 prints share logo, noteTags and lineNotes settings; lineNotes replaces the variance note.
- Retailer-specific prints such as Tesco, 3V and We Are Rise have their own properties.
