Flexport setup and flows
Lesson 21 of 28 4 min read
Flexport works the other way round from most connectors here - Supply Lens imports orders and stock from it. Learn the two flows and how to set them up.
Flexport is a logistics and fulfilment platform, listed among Supply Lens's shipping integrations and in the partner guide's 3PL and WMS ecosystem. Its Integration tile now shows the Flexport logo.
Unlike Mintsoft or Clarus, the Flexport settings guide describes importing: orders and inventory come from Flexport into Supply Lens. By the end of this lesson you will know both flows and where they typically go.
The Flexport flows
| Settings group | Direction | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Flexport Order | Receive | Imports orders from Flexport, with a default currency and fulfilment location |
| Flexport Inventory | Receive | Imports stock levels into a chosen fulfilment location |
A typical use is getting orders that Flexport fulfils into the ERP, and keeping the ERP's view of stock at the Flexport site up to date.
No shipment or goods-in groups
The Flexport settings guide has no shipment, goods inbound or receipt groups. If a project needs those, confirm with Supply Lens before scoping.
The fulfilment location ties it together
Both groups have a defaultFulfillmentLocationId. On orders, it is the fulfilment location
given to every imported order. On inventory, it is the location the stock is assigned to.
Create a Location for the Flexport site first, then use it in both.
Set it up
- Create a Location for the Flexport fulfilment site under Settings → Reference data → Locations.
- Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations, click + ADD INTEGRATION and click ADD on Flexport. Complete the connection form and click CONNECT.
- Add Receive Configurations for orders and inventory, using Create Default JSON.
- Set
defaultFulfillmentLocationIdon both to the Flexport Location. - Create Mappings from Flexport to the ERP.
Lumen Lighting's US fulfilment
Lumen Lighting, a UK brand, uses Flexport to fulfil US orders. Its ERP needs every US order and an accurate stock figure for the US site. The implementer creates a "Flexport US" Location, points both Flexport groups at it, and maps orders and inventory to the ERP.
Recap
- Flexport's settings cover importing orders and inventory from Flexport.
- There are no shipment or goods-in groups in the guide.
- defaultFulfillmentLocationId sets the location for imported orders and for stock; create the Location first.
