Supply Lens

Manhattan setup and flows

Lesson 15 of 28 5 min read

Connect a Manhattan warehouse system, understand its order and shipment flows, and see how references link a despatch back to its ERP order.

Manhattan is a warehouse management system used by larger logistics operations. Supply Lens lists it among its shipping integrations. Its settings guide is short and focused on two flows: orders and shipments.

By the end of this lesson you will understand those two flows and why reference types matter so much for Manhattan.

Two references, one order

Every Manhattan order has at least two numbers: the ERP order reference (your number) and the Manhattan order id (the warehouse's number). Both groups have settings that choose which document reference type carries each:

  • erpOrderReferenceType preserves the ERP order id.
  • orderIdReferenceType carries the Manhattan order id; on shipments, it is used to link each shipment to its original order.

Set them the same way on both groups so the shipment finds its order.

Master data

Locations can carry a Manhattan Warehouse Code identifier. Add it to each Location the Manhattan system fulfils from.

Set it up

  1. Go to Settings → Integration setup → Integrations, click + ADD INTEGRATION and click ADD on Manhattan. Complete the connection form and click CONNECT.
  2. Add Configurations for the order and shipment Document types, using Create Default JSON.
  3. Add Manhattan Warehouse Code identifiers to your Locations.
  4. Agree the carrier, carrier service and order type values with the warehouse.
  5. Create the Mappings: ERP → orders → Manhattan, and Manhattan → Shipment → ERP and storefront.

Harbour Home's retail despatches

Harbour Home, a homeware brand, moves its warehousing to a logistics partner running Manhattan. Its ERP numbers orders SO-10422; Manhattan gives each one its own id. The implementer sets both reference types on the Order and Shipment groups, so when the shipment for SO-10422 comes back carrying only the Manhattan id, Supply Lens can still match it.

Recap

  • Manhattan's settings cover orders and shipments.
  • Orders carry two references: the ERP order reference and the Manhattan order id.
  • Reference types on both groups are what link a shipment back to its order.
  • Locations carry a Manhattan Warehouse Code identifier.
