Supply Lens

Set up Linnworks

Lesson 21 of 30 6 min read

Import Linnworks orders with rounding and shipping-line choices, and import open purchase orders within a search window.

Linnworks is an order and inventory management platform that sits behind many multichannel sellers, collecting orders from marketplaces and shops into one place. Supply Lens can import two things from it: orders and purchase orders. Its settings use slightly different names from other connectors, so read them carefully.

By the end of this lesson you'll be able to configure both Linnworks Configurations and explain how their import windows differ.

Orders

lastReceivedDateThe date from which orders are imported. Only orders created on or after it are fetched. This is the historical cut-off for order imports.
defaultRoundingAmountThe number of decimal places used when rounding line values. Defaults to 4.
skipShippingLinesWhen true, shipping lines are left off imported orders, so shipping costs and details aren't included. When false or unset, they're included.

Good to know

Linnworks orders use lastReceivedDate rather than the setupDate and lastImportDate pair you see on most connectors. The guide describes it as the cut-off date; it doesn't say whether the system moves it forward after each run, so treat it with the same care as a watermark.

When to skip shipping lines

Turn on skipShippingLines when the target shouldn't receive shipping as a line, for example a warehouse that only needs the goods. Leave it off when the ERP needs to invoice or report the shipping charge.

Rounding

Four decimal places suits most systems. Lower it only if the target rejects values with more precision than it holds.

Purchase orders

statusesLinnworks purchase order statuses to import. Default: OPEN.
searchWindowHow far back from now to search for purchase orders. Defaults to 30 days, to avoid overly broad searches.

A purchase order created more than 30 days ago won't be found with the default window. If a merchant's purchase orders sit as drafts for weeks before being opened, widen the window.

Brightwater Drinks' multichannel stock

Brightwater Drinks uses Linnworks to gather Amazon and eBay orders, and a 3PL for fulfilment.

  • Order: lastReceivedDate is go-live day. The 3PL doesn't charge per shipping line, so skipShippingLines is on. Rounding stays at 4.
  • Purchase order: statuses stays at OPEN, so only open purchase orders are imported and passed on by their Mapping. searchWindow stays at 30 days.

Recap

  • Linnworks offers Order and Purchase Order imports.
  • Orders use lastReceivedDate as their cut-off, with rounding and shipping-line options.
  • Purchase orders import in OPEN status by default, searching back 30 days.
  • Widen searchWindow if purchase orders are older than the window when they become eligible.
