Import Faire orders

Lesson 15 of 30 6 min read

Connect Faire with an access token, choose which order states to import, assign the retailer and Location, and send stock from the right warehouses.

Faire is a wholesale marketplace: independent retailers buy from brands, and Faire handles payment and takes a commission. For the brand, a Faire order looks like a wholesale order, but the money and the tax are reported Faire's way. This lesson sets up the connection, order filters and stock. The next lesson tackles tax and commission.

By the end of this lesson you'll be able to connect Faire and configure which orders come in and which stock goes out.

Connect

Connect Faire with an access token from the brand's Faire account. Supply Lens names the Integration after the Faire brand automatically, which helps when one organisation runs several brands.

Which orders?

statesIncludedWhen set, only orders in these Faire order states are imported.
statesExcludedFaire order states to skip, even if they would otherwise be imported.
importDelayWait before importing, so other Faire apps (a 3PL, fulfilment app or pricing engine) can update the order first.
setupDate / lastImportDateGo-live cut-off and watermark, managed by the system.

Agree with the brand which Faire state means "accepted and ready to ship", and include that.

Who and where?

defaultCustomerIdThe Party used when no customer can be identified.
alwaysSetDefaultCustomerIdUse the default customer for every order.
defaultFulfillmentLocationIdThe Location assigned to every imported Faire order.

Brands differ here. Some book every Faire order to a single "Faire" customer, because Faire pays them. Others want each retailer as its own customer for sales reporting. Choose with the brand's finance team.

Stock

includedLocationsSupply Lens Location IDs to include when sending stock to Faire. Empty means all Locations.
excludedLocationsLocation IDs whose stock is not sent to Faire.

Tip

Exclude Locations that shouldn't feed wholesale, such as a returns bay or a store's back room, so retailers only see stock that can actually ship.

Rendering diagram...

Fern & Finch on Faire

Fern & Finch connects Faire with an access token and the Integration appears as "Fern & Finch".

  • statesIncluded holds the state the brand uses for accepted orders.
  • Finance wants one "Faire" customer in Unleashed, so defaultCustomerId is set with alwaysSetDefaultCustomerId on.
  • Stock comes only from the main warehouse: excludedLocations lists the returns Location.

Recap

  • Faire connects with an access token and is named after the brand.
  • Filter orders by Faire state; exclusions win.
  • Decide whether Faire orders go to one customer or to each retailer.
  • Use included and excluded Locations to control which stock Faire sees.
